Thomas Ridge Athletics Postgraduate Basketball Program
Get to Know Our Program
When a student-athlete joins the Thomas Ridge Athletics boys basketball program, they get access to one-of-a-kind resources and unparalleled support that guides their journey toward the next level. Student-athletes across every team have the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential while emphasizing player development, resulting in placing over 100 basketball student-athletes in college over the last five years. TRA offers top training and features a variety of various levels of training to ensure each student-athlete has an enriching experience. TRA tapers training and progressively increases workouts and conditioning before focusing on game preparation and team strategies. With an extensive network of collegiate programs TRA provides nationwide exposure unlike anywhere else. TRA basketball student-athletes are also expected to maintain similar expectations to those that they’ll need to succeed in college, such as respect, academic success, responsibility and ownership, mental and physical toughness, and complete personal and athletic development. The dedicated post-graduate/prep teams compete against national competition at various tournaments and showcase events, allowing them to gain unprecedented exposure. Post-graduate players do not jeopardize their NCAA eligibility while preparing for their next steps at the collegiate level both on the court. Post-graduates will develop through position-specific training while benefiting from an extra season to increase physicality as well as mental toughness and maturity.
Things to Know about Skill Development & Basketball IQ Growth
There are a number of skills that are important for basketball players to develop in order to be successful. These include shooting, ball handling, passing, rebounding, and defense. Players need to have a great understanding of the game and how to play it the rightway in order to be successful.
One of the best ways for players to develop these skills is through practice, repetition, and commitment. Players need to live in the gym and work on their game. They also need to watch multiple films and try to learn from their mistakes.
Players also need to have a high level basketball IQ in order to be successful. They need to know when to make the right play and how to read the defense. Players who are smart and understand the game are typically the most successful.
